These "make my day laws" are always potentially disastrous pieces of legislation. We should not as a civilized society allow people to have permits to carry concealed firearms unless they are law enforcement of security people. Both of these groups should have special training, licensing, and liability insurance. Otherwise, anyone who carries a handgun into a public place needs some hard time in the local slammer. Who needs a concealed handgun when buying groceries or going into a bank to deposit a check? Who needs a concealed weapon for going to parent-teacher conferences or seeing an music program at the high school in town? Like I say, the potential for disaster is always present with these types of laws.

Also, big ammo clips and semiautomatics are a recipe for massacres in public places. Europeans think Americans are stupid for having these types of gun laws. Europeans are correct in their analysis of America's gun laws. Do right wingers want to bring a Glock 9mm with a hundred rounds of ammo clips to the local playground where children play? How about bringing your AK-47 to register for college or for midterms or final exam time? Maybe the AK-47 is necessary for deer hunting especially if you like hamburger venison?

The point is where are we going to stop with this absurd crazy right winged idea that "everyone" should carry a concealed gun for their daily routine? It would be nice if a .357 magnum brought to a city council meeting would help us make wiser decisions for the community. The reality is that most people aren't out to get us and that concealed weapons won't create a single job for anyone except the ambulance driver, the police, and the undertaker at the local mortuary all of whom will ultimately be paid by our taxes. Sounds like these gun laws from the conservatives are very "liberal" and "socialist" with the public dollars. We should figure the potential liability for each round fired from a gun in a public place could be one million dollars per round at least! The "customers" from gun violence go to jail, the ER, permanent physical therapy or a wheel chair for life, and the mortuary. We the taxpayer get stuck with the bill for these "conservative" laws. Like it or not the public sector subsidizes these "make my day laws" and concealed and carry laws with huge amounts of public liability. The conservatives never like to talk about this aspect of their "make my day" type laws. Its nothing but pure socialism once you look at all the governmental costs involved.

What city isn't racist? Redlining isn't just in the housing industry. Those who attempt to equal the field become the dead. Think of Kennedy, King and Kennedy. This case will pass because the shooter will be found dumb...crazy...psyko... incompetent.

Linda VA, I read that the ladies of Virginia overwhelmingly support Obama! Congrats on being of the smart gender. Now if that support goes national, we will reelect a great person.

Anyone see the moveon.org commercial of women sounding off against republiKKKain stupid crap? Its good.

In OR the cops don't ever get charged, let alone go to court. It's ALWAYS justifiable.

Because the police dept considered the case against Zimmerman, "closed" on grounds of "self defense" they can take no further action. It is now up to the grand jury to hand down an indictment which I am sure they will do on April 10. But what usually happens is when it finally ends up in court, the drama begins and all the defense lawyers start their dirty tricks. It may end up just like most of the cops get, an acquittal. So the family will get no relief except thru civil court.

Fargo,

I dont think it protects anyone from a civil lawsuit, not even police. Because many times when these minorities are killed by the cops, the cops get acquittals in court. So the only family restitution is through the civil courts. Trayvon's family can sue Zimmerman in civil court for wrongful death.

I keep hoping they will set up a website so people can donate money for their cause. Those lawyers don't work for free.

Does the Stand Your Gun Law protect Zimmerman from a wrongful death lawsuit? What is keeping law enforcement form arresting Zimmerman so our legal system can do its thing?

FOX blowhard Geraldo Rivera publicly put equal blame on Trayvon for being shot because he was wearing a hoodie out in public as if he was asking to be shot. Zimmerman just couldn't help but to kill him according to his FAUX analysis. Geraldo you sir are a biased idiot.......with that logic woman probably share the blame when being raped in your opinion for dressing wrong or wearing too much perfume??????????????? I guess that is why you are employed by FOX???????? I guess with your logic the company that makes the hoodies is at fault too because they didn't put a warning on the label "might look suspicious & risk getting shot if you wear this garment on your head"????? What an idiot.....

I wear a hood all the time. This is the freaking cold windy Red River Valley Great Plains area that I live in & Mosquito country when it is nice out. Damned if anyone is going to tell me I can't wear a freaking hood in the United States of America!!!!!!!!!!!

Geraldo you owe Trayvon & his family an apology!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is America!!!

This is yet another example of why we must end the practice of lobbyists driving our legislation in this country. The yahoos that rammed this through never even took the time to think about the consequences. Guess that NRA money was just too tempting.

And now we've got that IDIOT Geraldo calling for people to stop wearing hoodies! Stupidity knows no bounds. I am sitting here today wearing a hoodie. I wear them all the time because I don;t like using umbrellas when it is raining.

Anybody remember the UNIBOMBER??! The famous "hoodie" sketch of him. Didn't hear anybody calling for an end to hoodie wearing back then!

So now guns don't kill people, HOODIES kill people. Morons!

The police in Portland seem to have a "shoot first" policy. They have shoot unarmed black people and it was "justifiable". Beating a homeless black man, caught on servalance camera, "justifiable". You know it's bad when the news tells people NOT to pull over and stop when "lit up". Drive to the nearest lighted, populated area befpre stopping. And OR has a "stand your ground law". And we are a blue state.

Florda mostly relies on tourism dollars to keep their economy on track. What if they threw a vacation and nobody came until this dangerous, deadly law was repealed?

Mad Dog...... It's your money.. spend it in a place where you won't get shot at!!!!
