Rep. Todd Akin, presently a candidate for Senate in Missouri, has sponsored a bill that would redefine rape in an effort to attack abortion providers' funding. In keeping with his extremist philosophy, Akin went way over the line this weekend when he claimed victims of 'legitimate rape' -- whatever that is -- can't get pregnant.
"From what I understand from doctors, that's really rare. If it's a legitimate rape, the female has body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down," Akin said. Watch it.
It's helpful to your blood pressure to keep in mind that what they say they want and what they will do are often several different things. Because I live in Alabama, I have to work with the enemy every day. They talk politics openly at work. They assume because you live in a red state and are educated, you must be one of them. I just shrug and pretend not to care to keep my job. Many of my pubes at work are conservative on taxes, but support a woman's right to choose. I imagine that is the case with this fake morality on the hill. They don't really care about stopping abortions. If they did, they would pay their fair share of taxes. What they want is to get elected and they have to say far right things to get votes, but they have little interest in working for those causes once they get inside. Think how long this fight has gone on since the 1970s? About 40 years now we've had to listen to this debate and Roe v. Wade still stands. Why? Because no matter how you break it out, a fertilized egg is not a person under the law. It might represent life, but the law has to define life in a legal form. A fertilized egg cannot vote, sue in court, or possess any legal rights or protections under the law. Attempts to circumvent that fact results in perverted legal processes setting invalid and reckless precedents. Think what crazy litigation could be brought if a fertilized egg had personhood rights. If a miscarriage occurs, the state could file criminal charges against the mother for eating snack foods, working long hours, walking or not walking enough, gaining too much weight, smoking, or even living with smokers.

YES, he should stay in. He's working for us, the Dems. Go Akin, keep up the good work. If the pubs do sneak him money under the table, that doesn't guarantee a win and it's highly likely the press will be able to detect the funding and that will demonstrate their awful character even further than a slip of the tongue did. The longer he stays in front of the people, the longer they will remember what he said.

Akin is just saying what the GOP have been saying policy wise all along............the GOP outcry is phoney...............give me a change in stance on policy when it comes to Rape & Abortion........the Radical Republican party isn't doing that...............just damage control & lip service without any change with policy & platform.............Akin just explained their policy & platform........he just said it in an undisguised way.

He needs to stay in, to become an example of what not to vote for! Someone posted something from the "Onion:, the online satire magazine, to facebook, saying. I, Akin, meant to say that I am as dumb as dog shit, and I am a terrible human being!" End of quote!

So, do you think he will stay in...?
Maybe the voting universe can send a message better in November.
Yeah, let him stay... so he can remind the voting public just how rotten the new GOP is.

I find it amazing when these GOP-ERS get caught, at something, all they have to say is I mis-spoke, and the media forgives them! Sorry, louse of a human being, it won't work, not this time!! This should be a lesson in voting for all people out there. Vote the crazies, out!! The Huffington Post, posted something very noteworthy last week. It read, something like this: Instead of voter ID Laws, there should be voter IQ Laws. I totally agree.

The media is busy saying that elected officials from both sides of the political aisle are running away from these comments. Well, Romney, and Ryan don't have anywhere to hide, because unfortunately their policies are exactly what this Aken just said, about women. Like I said before, do they ever stop to wonder why their ticket is 15 points or more behind in the womens vote, after all of this, I think it will only get much worse.

You are one crazy backwoods Senator stating that a baby cannot be born to a woman who has been raped.
If you had a daughter and she was molested by 2 backwoods men, and she became pregnant, would you and your wife and daughter welcome your 'newest grandchild' with welcome arms..give me a break.
I don't even live in Missouri, nor would I want to, but I just had to send this email on.
You are a laughing stock among woman of all ages.
Apologize now and drop out tomorrow!!!

It is so sad what Akin's words have done to women, especially to Amy who spoke on Ed's radio show today. We always say that words have consequences but to listen to this woman who was raped, became pregnant and has had to live with this horrible experience in her mind for twelve years is heart wrenching and for her to hear the words about what is “legitimate rape” coming from her own congressman is just terrible. The radical leaders of the GOP care only about themselves and feel that they can criticize everyone for not seeing the world as they do. They are self-centered egotistical men and in some cases women that really need to be put in their place. These conservatives without consciences act as children and do not set a good example for our children who they claim to be so concerned about. The radical Tea Party religious zealots have no right to take away our freedoms and we must vote them out of office and replace them with sensible adults who really represent the people of their respective districts or states. We must see that as many people can vote in the November 2012 elections as possible.

By the way:
Are all Republican men this damned stupid about the anatomy of the female body?
Remember, Rush thinking that a woman had to take more birth control the more often she has sex?
Now, this idiot saying rape victims do not become pregnant!
These morons don’t have the common sense that God gave a worm, and they are leaders in the Republican Party.
