Obama: Thank Goodness Somebody is Getting Tough on Big Bird
posted by Ed Staff | Thursday, October 04, 2012

In last night's Presidential debate, Mitt Romney admitted he would cut funding for PBS as part of his debt reduction plan. Today, President Obama answered, saying, "Thank goodness somebody is finally getting tough on Big Bird. It's about time." Watch it.

........to be honest if President Obama would have kept mentioning the words Big Bird when referring to things............it would have been over for Mitt.............it was the perfect jab to use throughout the debate.

I heard Romney attack PBS, Big Bird while dissing Jim Leher.............I am thinking wow what an opportunity to set the tone for the debate for Obama, Romney fumbled on his first offensive attempt.........what a ridiculous nonfactual talking point.......it was a gift on a silver platter..............then Obama lets it slide.............then I start yelling at the TV...........it was so obvious Big Bird would be a hot topic in social media & PBS & Big bird have absolutely nothing to to with the Federal Deficit or spending......................the numbers, facts, math & American priorities just aren't there to support such a ridiculous laughable Radical Right Wing talking point..........come on!!!!!!!!

Linda alex aka alec doesnt even know what he is saying as CPB is like a parent company to pbs stations and npr stations and sesame street is a program on it and is has become the face of the pbs stations. So if he knew his facts that he likes to say he knows but doesnt know. So when I saw him say sesame street wont end doesnt see the big picture of pbs and npr. So much for his phony post and his narrow minded views and that is the trouble with the gop=tea baggers they are mioptic as they cant see the forest for the trees.

Alex do some fact checking the amount the CPB gets to support PBS and NPR is 1/100 the of 1% of the entire budget. 445 million for 2015 which is about 12% of CPB budget. The board of CPB is run by 3 Republicans and 3 Democrats, but the right has always felt that gee where there is anything like this with the word public in it then it is left wing propaganda machine. If you know the history of the CPB founded in 1968 before PBS to help rural area of the country to have news and other programs who could not get most of the major media outlets. Second the CPB funds not only PBS but NPR for this reason. Third PBS may surrive in major markets like new york, san franciso, and other large cities, but in rural where the income isnt able to support this programing then it most likely would end. Fourth if you want to know to know where these facts are from it was inForbes and not some left wing group and you better go back and listen to the interview with the ceo of pbs. She didnt say what you said or you are just reading in things to fit you right wing agenda... Which I believe is the case.

Westin says, “Sesame Workshop receives very, very little funding from PBS. So, we are able to raise our funding through philanthropic, through our licensed product, which goes back into the educational programming, through corporate underwriting and sponsorship. So quite frankly, you can debate whether or not there should be funding of public broadcasting. But when they always try to tout out Big Bird, and say we’re going to kill Big Bird – that is actually misleading, because Sesame Street will be here.”

Such a sad, sad blog when you, Eddie can't even get the fact strait and are purposely misleading your sad little minions.

So, let see here. The CEO of PBS says that killing Big Bird is misleading.....hmm sounds like Obama's the LIAR on this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gee Eddie why can't you just present the real facts to your minions and help the President. Apparently he needs you too.

And tell Elmo so he won't be worried about losing his job....unlike Obama

My thoughts are that the President really wanted to say more but for strategy reasons he couldn't. We can't always know everything that is going on behind the scenes. There are several reasons why he might have chosen to tune out -

* Maybe he wanted Romney to hang himself with all of his lies or put his foot in his mouth like he has done in the past

* maybe he wanted to get lefties to not think this is in the bag so they don't have to vote

if people feel like they have something they have to fight for they are more likely to vote - if they think we are already winning - not as many voters show up.

We win at the voting booth - not the debates

*also if the President doesn't talk much he doesn't give Romney any thing knew to attack him on.

My point is that we all know who the real President is and we know he truly doesn't "tune-out" unless there is a plan. I totally trust the President and know he has the entire country's best interest at heart.

Pat think process said that robme told 27 lies and his total time speaking was 38 minutes which means he tells his lies each minute and that gives him 11 minutes to get a breath between the lies. I was not happy with the president when I was watching it, but today I was watching people talking about it and I started to think about it. I still was not happy, but started to consider now robme has lied his way to a debate win the people who are honest about facts are taking it to him for the lies. I know foxie snooze and the other talking heads are saying how great he was. If you saw how this man was a bully and insulting to people by his lies then you may see he was the loser. People are now saying people are taking a look at what he said and his lies are going to hurt him...

Also the people need to remember it isnt just the presidental election but the other elections for the house, senate, state and local elections that people need to vote for the dems. Pat I am an idependent and have been one for many years, but I vote for values, truth and fair treatment of my fellow americans. I fact check the people even in local elections. That is the only way we can keep from having people like the gop=tea baggers that were elected in 2010. But like you said where the hell are the brains of the undecided voter, but I would have to add where the hell are the brains of the voters who will vote gop=tea baggers. My answer is that many are sitting on them...

Okay! I hear today, though, dissappointing, what the President did, in the debate, was done on purpose, because he didn't want to be seen as beating up on poor little Romney!

What they are also saying, that Romney did one hell of an acting job, worthy of an Emmy Award! Will the real Romney please stand up! Like on that show to tell the truth!

I believe all of it. In the debate, the President looked down, and rolled his eyes several times, because I saw him do it. That tells me that Obama was trying to contain all the anger he was feeling. It also told me that he wanted to say, something, but was holding back. It all makes sense now!

I likeMartin Bashir's take, on it, which says, that Romney probably will not win the Presidency, but should win an Emmy Award, for the best acting job ever, by a Presidential candidate.

I was very apprehensive about the debate and afraid what happened would happen. Wednesday nights, I usually play trivia at the local bar and this week I decided to go instead of staying home for the debate. I caught the last 30 minutes when we got home, and that was enough to tell me my worst fears had come true.

That said, Rmoney lied... I heard several in 30 minutes, and am grateful to Rex for pointing out a few more.Rmoney lies and wins debate, I'm sick.

TAX THE RICH we'll all need medicare soon enough!!
