President Obama gave his first speech to the nation today since his re-election, standing strong in his conviction that the wealthy must pay more, and that he will veto any deficit reduction effort that isn't balanced. And he used a familiar catchphrase too... watch it.
Yeah, if the President can't get a fair deal from the Repubs, let the whole shebang go over the cliff. Just make it perfectly clear that the reason, dear middle class, that your taxes went up is because the Repubs want to protect the millionaires and billionaires in this country more than the middle class. Somebody should also make it clear that we are talking about increasing the top tax rate by only 4%, hardly confiscatory! This is the tax rate they paid in the pre-Bush II years when the economy boomed and the country started to pay down the debt.
P.S. To Democrats start working on the 2014 mid-terms now to get rid of the Repub House. Nothing much is going to get done with these reactionary b.....ds in office.

There's going to be a tremendous fight where Obama may give in to keeping them for another 2 years for everyone. I agree that we should just let ALL the tax cuts expire as they weren't needed in the first place. Things were good under Clinton, but everything fell apart under Bush. The tax cuts have sucked money from programs and public services that average Americans use.
The repubs are clever in that they're making low information voters think that it's a tax increase when it's really a return to pre-Bush taxation.

First things first, the President did recieve a mandate whether the GOP likes it or not. The people have spoke. President Obama needs to hold firm on the tax increase for the rich. If they need to expire the Bush tax cuts to get it done then so be it, we the working class are use to adjusting our lifestyle. We have had 30 years of practice. Secondly, the rich don't create jobs consumers do. A rich person will not open a factory to produce goods that they do not have consumers for. Next why shouldn't they pay their fair share of taxes when they recieve the greatest benefit from tax dollars spent. They enjoy our publicly educated work force to come and work for them that allow them to be more profitable. They enjoy the United States Navy maintaining free and safe waterways to allow commerce to transport their goods over open waterways without worrying about their vessels being taken. They love our national highway system which allows their trucks to transport their goods from coast to coast. Sorry, I forgot they built it on their own, they didn't have any help. Maybe it is time for them to start paying their fair share for the resources that enable them to make record profits.

Call YOUR Senator and let them know that you want the rich to pay more in taxes. Not on the backs of Children, Seniors, sick, and poor. If we don't stand for something we will fall for anything. LETS FALL OFF THE CLIFF TOGETHER. BECAUSE IF WE DON'T THE MIDDLE CLASS WILL FALL OF THE CLIFF AND THE RICH WILL HAVE A GOLDEN PARACHUTE ONCE AGAIN.

I agree with Harold, let all the Bush tax cuts expire. If I have to pay more taxes I don't care because my 1992 taxes were not that bad under Clinton. Most other Americans can afford to do this. I want my country to work again. I want the budget deficit to be gone. I want the richest Americans to pay much more in income taxes and have capital gains increased to the same 39% to 40% level as the top income tax rate. We need to start realizing that all of us must pay a little bit more to the IRS. I hate tax cuts because they are a poor way to stimulate the economy. A 39% top income tax rate is not too high for millionaires and billionaires to pay. We need to be able to raise taxes because our government can no longer afford to be held hostage by GOP blackmail and extortion sponsored by Grover Norquist. Grover needs to be made irrelevant by going off of the fiscal cliff in January.

I'm not sure why Obama keeps saying it would be bad to let ALL the Bush tax cuts expire. I've done the math and it doesn't make any sense. We should all be able to go back to 1992 tax rates without any disasterous consequences. If he can get those idiots to agree to just raise taxes on the rich without having to give them SS and Medicare cuts, then fine I quess, but if he cannot get a deal that's fair to both sides, I want the wealthly taxed EVEN if it means I have to pay more to get it.
There is a principal at stake and it's name is Grover Norquist. I am not going to tolerate a sneaky, selfish, little unelected, behind the scenes puppet master hijacking my government and my power. The people have spoken overwhelmingly. The decision is not up to Boehner and Cantor and Ryan and McConnell. It's up to me and the other 54% of Americans who voted FOR Obama. We voted FOR Obama because we know that he has the plan that makes the most sense for all Americans. We voted FOR Obama, not against Romney. Those who voted for Romney were really voting against Obama. No large demographic really voted FOR Romney's wealthy welfare ideas. That is a true mandate and we've got to use it. Tax the rich or tax everybody, makes no difference. We got to get the bills paid up or else this depression is going to go on and on and on and on....

They have billions to chuck at a turd of a candidate, they can afford to spend a little on a worthy cause. At the end of the year, they will still be billionaires. It's the will of the people, something the right could care less about. The pubs can cry all they want. If they don't agree with getting some revenue back into the government, D.C. just may look pretty blue come 2014. The wealthiest have been rubbing it in the peons faces ever since Dubya screwed the rest of us with their ridiculous tax cuts. How many jobs have the "job creators" created in the United States? Another huge repub lie. I want to see froggy McConnell's face when the taxes go up. Now, that's going to be entertainment.

I just hope that Obama keeps the pressure on the Repubs about the wealthiest paying their fair share. I would rather eliminate the tax cuts for everyone rather than to see them extended which will also include millionaires and billionaires.

I am wondering how they will try to write off the money. You know the kochs, trump, and adelson gave to non-profit super pacs that operate under the 501c grouping. This means they most likely will write this off as a charity expense. The super pacs are operating by saying they are info base for the public good. I am tired of these clowns crying about taxes which will go from 35 to 39 and then give millions for a campain. They make themselves look like fools by saying the tax will hurt them and their job creation. 11 years now and they havent created jobs for the middle class.
The only jobs that they created were for the people working for the gop=tea bagger super pacs.
The president may want to look at the 250,000.00 amout is he talking of about single or joint tax returns? I havent hear which one he is speaking offor sure. If it is joint then that should be pushed to 500,000.00 for those people and 250.000.00 for single people. That amount isnt junk change as it is about 8 times more than I see a year even with my fire money, and these people complain they will starve if they pay more. Please give me a break as most americans of my age group have been screwed and wages didnt climb for most of us people in blue collar jobs over the last 30 plus years. These were the years that I worked my butt off and for what now to be told sir you are a free loader and we want to screw you more by cutting and gutting your paid for social security and medicare. My view is there should be a loud voice telling them our benefits were paid for and are not entitlements. I am sick and tire of these jerks demaning more from the average person while firing people because of the polical views.
just my humble views

Yea! . Poor, Poor, Addelson, who now, wonders where his money went, because he and others, like comb-over Trump- and the Kochs, trusted Karl Rove, and things went terribly, terribly, wrong, sort of like a mob movie, but with a different ending, because you haven't gotten any of it back. Now you might have to cough up more dough! Poor Babies! Just hold your noses, and breathe in deeply, and then breathe out again. I promise it won't hurt. But, beware, you might really have to cut back, for a long time, to come. No more, catered dinners with waitresses serving you, because someone might get another- 47%, video-shoot, with the cam-corder, while you are all eating and drinking away! Do I feel sorry for any of you? Belly Laugh!! Belly Laugh!! HEE! HEE!
