President Barack Obama and his Democratic allies are pleading their case for health care overhaul in an extraordinary summit with Republicans during daytime television.
Democrats are already looking beyond Thursday's meeting if Republicans stonewall Obama's health care plan.
President Obama and his party are preparing to move alone if neccessary without Republican support.
President Obama Comments Obama declared that even as politicians focus on propelling economic growth, they must also address "one of the biggest drags on our economy."

Speaker Pelosi Comments House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-CA, said, "Inaction and incrementalism are simply unacceptable."
Pelosi said, "Success of the overhaul effort will help ensure a more secure fiscal future."
Democrats were looking beyond the meeting even before it started. With GOP lawmakers apparently steadfastly opposed to broad change, the president and his party prepared to move on alone.
Sen. Snowe Declines Meeting The White House invited Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-ME, at the last minute since she wasn't on the list of Repbulicans attending.
She declined.
Fallback Plan The Wall Street Journal reports President Obama has a fallback plan.
The scaled back plan would provide health insurance to about 15 million Americans instead of the 31 million Democrats supported.
The fallback plan would require insurance companies to allow people up to 26 years old to stay on their parents' health plans.
The scaled back version would modestly expand two federal-state health programs, Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program.
