Ed: Get up to speed on the federal debt! When your Republican guest says that "one year of Obama debt has surpassed eight years of George Bush debt," you should call him out. George W. gave us nearly $5 trillion added to the total federal debt. Obama is nowhere near that yet, and it was the Bush legacy that continued the debt, not any Obama policies. Ed, jump on that stuff as a teaching moment! Call him out!

As for health care, I really do not see any suggestions from the Republicans for health care reform that are valid. Take buying policies against state lines. The purpose of that would be to gut consumer protections. People would buy silly stuff from another state and not find out how bad it was until they got sick. That is a loser.
Then there is tort reform. Try to sue a big HMO. It is HARD. But there may be a tort reform piece that all can agree on. (I think there actually is one in effect for HMOs already.)
No final bill is going to be perfect, but it is clear that Republicans are primarily obstructing things. Let's get it done! (With or without Betty White!)

Hate to burst your bubble, but the services you listed (fire, police, schools) are locally controlled w/ some federal interference. Tea-Party wants to remove most federal interference.

If Bush was President and he had a huge majority and an unpopular tax cut for the rich...he would make sure it got passed through reconciliation...oh yeah he did do that twice...COME ON DEMS...get it done or get out of Washington!!!
