Great show, Ed. I'm pumped up. Let's get it done! Let's get it done! The stories of those ladies are so very common. My wife has a similar story to tell, herself. Health care reform, in place, will end many, if not all, of these awful stories or people being denied coverage, kicked out of their plan after they get sick, or being sent policy premiums with outrageous COST increases.
Stop the unnecessary deaths! PASS THE DAMN BILL! Let's get it done!

Dear Ed,
Thank you for your passion on this health care reform. I am a retired Government Worker and a retired USAF Sergeant, therefore I have an excellent health care plan. But, there are so many in my family and around me that do not have a health plan. I didn't see them at town hall meetings. For example, my wife's brother lost his job in Sep 09 after fifteen years with a company and lost his health insurance. On March 2, 2010, he found out that he has cancer in his brain and lung. He has no insurance. Even if he survives, he would never be able to get any insurance under our present system. God bless you Ed, the other side has money to advertise against passing the bill. You showed how people are being impacted on without health coverage. Keep up the good fight.

So with this bill, do 30 million Americans get coverage the day the President signs the bill? Or do we continue to lose our healthcare until 2014? Answer those questions on your radio and tv show. I think America deserves to know those answers.

Thanks Ed

Keep up the fight!!

Dear Gabriel: First off, not all the 30 million are really looking to get health care insurance. Probably 3-4% will not get it for one reason or the other. I think that is where Massachucetts is right now.
Second, I do think that, on day one, insurance companies will no longer be able to reject applications or hike premiums for those with pre-existing conditions. You will be able to walk in and buy the product at the list cost just like anyone else. That will help maybe 5 million of the 30 right off the bat.
Third, those who cannot afford the premiums will get subsidies from the federal government, but I do not know when that kicks in. That is a good question.
And, fourth, those who choose not to buy health insurance, like the young invincibles, are probably not going to be forced to buy insurance for several more years. Again, I'm not up on that date. Good question.
But we should know that we will not get everything at once. Social Security was passed in 1935, but it was not to be implemented until 1942. It was started in 1940 because of the prolonged depression. The idea was to build up funds before implementing the program.
